Every ROOTIER filter fits a standard connection and installs by hand. Two minutes, start to finish.
Handheld shower head
The filter replaces your existing handheld head. It screws onto the hose you already have.
Unscrew the old head
Turn it anticlockwise by hand. If it is stiff, grip it through a cloth for purchase.
Check the washer
A rubber washer sits inside the nut of the new head. Make sure it is seated flat.
Without the washer it will drip.Screw on the filter
Hand-tighten clockwise onto the hose until it stops. Do not use a wrench.
Run it for thirty seconds
Cold water, full flow. This clears loose carbon dust from the cartridge.
Grey water at first is normal.Note the date
The cartridge runs twelve months. Write the month on the box or set a reminder.
Rain or ceiling head
The filter is a complete rain shower head. It replaces the head you have on the arm already in place.
Unscrew the old rain head
Turn anticlockwise at the joint where the head meets the arm. Support the head as it comes free.
Wrap the arm thread
Three turns of the supplied tape, clockwise, on the exposed thread of the arm.
Check the washer
A rubber washer sits inside the nut of the new head. Make sure it is seated flat.
Without the washer it will drip.Screw on the filtered head
Hand-tighten clockwise onto the arm until it stops. Do not use a wrench.
Run it for thirty seconds
Check the joint for drips while the water runs. Nip up by hand if needed.
Basin or kitchen tap
The filter replaces the aerator at the tip of the tap.
Remove the aerator
Unscrew the small ring at the tip of the tap. Some are internal thread, some external.
Pick the adaptor
Match the adaptor to your tap. Internal thread taps use the wider one.
Fit the filter
Hand-tighten the filter body onto the adaptor with the washer seated.
Run it for thirty seconds
Warm water, full flow. Check the joint at the tap tip for drips.
If something is not right
It drips at the joint
The washer is missing or not flat. Unscrew, seat the washer, hand-tighten again. Add two turns of thread tape if it persists.
The pressure feels lower
The cartridge is new and dense for the first few showers. If it stays low after a week the mesh screen may be blocked by sediment — rinse it under the tap.
The water looks grey
Loose carbon dust. Run the shower for thirty seconds. It clears and does not return.
The thread does not match
Every Gulf standard fitting is 1/2 inch. If yours is not, send a photo of the arm and thread and the right adaptor will be sent.
